The white shark tag has returned to Monterey. After a tricky U-turn, the tag started drifting offshore and we feared we might lose it.
But the team worked hard, and we were able to chase it down far out at sea. Here is a celebration portrait after we scooped the tag onboard. Right to left, the team of tag-catchers include Fernando Marquez (Instituto Nacional de Pesca), John O'Sullivan (Monterey Bay Aquarium), Scott Reid (Monterey Bay Aquarium), Jose Alvarez Arias (boat captain), Salvador Jorgensen (TOPP), and Humberto Ortega Casillas (Instituto Nacional de Pesca).
