The wind was high first thing in the morning, so we headed south and fished in the lee of Five-finger Island.
Now the birds were following us, but we were fishing where weather permitted and we were not having any luck. That's a Buller's albatross on the left. And a Shy albatross, below.
As the day wore on we pulled up our lines and headed south. As we rounded the southeast tip of New Zealand, we found birds working in the protected lee of Chalky Island and spent the rest of the evening fishing there.
