Help us!

So, by now you know all about how dire my chances of survival are – mine and all the other leatherback turtles.

In February, about the time I was laying my last batch of eggs, more than 200 sea turtle scientists and conservationists got together in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (I like the sound of that place….myrtle…turtle) and wrote a letter to the president of Costa Rica, Oscar Arias Sanchez, to save our beach. Somebody delivered it to the president's office in March.

Do you want to help us? Costa Rican law already says that the privately owned properties in the Las Baulas Marine Park should be acquired by the government to protect the beach. And a bunch of folks have already raised $5 million to pay the owners.

You could help me by sending an email to President Oscar Arias Sanchez to encourage him to protect our beach. It's easy. Just go to the Sea Turtle Restoration Project.and do it!

Thanks!!!

Great Race

Hi George - Really sorry to hear that you're only receiving 4 signals from the original 12 tagged leatherbacks. I'm pleased that Saffira is still transmitting from Peru/Chile as she was the one I helped with. I'll keep hoping for the best. Best Wishes Marie Lock
